What was your biggest challenge when it came to losing the weight?
I had struggled with my weight since high school, and weight loss was always on my mind… but it was a very hard thing to accomplish. I even signed up for various weight loss programs ten times over the course of 12 years. I would always do well at first and then fall out of the motivated mindset just a few months later.
At 255 pounds, I had reached my breaking point. I had also been out of college a few years and still was not where I wanted to be professionally… I had a sneaking suspicion that my weight might have been part of the problem.
I was unhappy and miserable, but couldn’t commit myself to taking the leap I needed to lose the weight once and for all.
What motivated you to make a change?
Having the right mindset is very important to successfully losing weight. Sometimes it just clicks and you’re ready to tackle the challenge of weight loss for good, but it’s not always that easy. Sometimes you need a push, and that’s what happened to me when I finally decided to take my health seriously.
I was tired. Tired of being treated poorly, tired of having no energy to do the things I love, and tired of attempting something that was very important to me but always giving up when the going got tough. I ended up pushing myself into my own weight loss mindset with these things in mind, and I never looked back.
So I started a diet plan again, this time with my mom for support, and the weight slowly started coming off! I had always been a hiker so I tried adding more walking and hiking into my routine. I walked around my campus on my breaks during work and my neighborhood at home for about an hour every day. I would jump at any opportunity to get extra walking in. Exercise can really be that simple and it still makes a big difference in your weight loss.
After I had lost a significant amount of weight, I reached a serious plateau. No matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to get over it. That’s when I decided to add 310 Shakes into my life. Shortly after drinking a shake each day for breakfast, I crushed my plateau and lost the last twenty pounds I needed to meet my goal weight.

Tell us about your healthy lifestyle routine…
My routine is pretty simple. I wake up, make a 310 shake, then go to work and start my day. At work, I try to get in as much walking as I can. I also eat healthy snacks throughout the day so I’m not overly hungry when I get home at night. Then when I do get home, I take my dog on a hike in a local park, or walk around our neighborhood, and then reflect on my day.

Oh, there are many! One of my favorites is one cup of almond milk, 1 frozen banana, and one scoop of the 310 Toasted Coconut blended together. Another is 1 cup almond milk, 1 cup frozen cherries, and 1 scoop of the 310 Chocolate, also blended. I like to keep my shakes simple since I’m always in a hurry in the morning. It also makes a big difference when you blend the shakes with frozen fruit or ice to give them a rich texture.

Utilizing social media is a great way to stay motivated throughout your weight loss journey. I’m always checking out the 310 Facebook and Instagram pages. There are great tips on there from current 310 users and I get a lot of motivation from reading other people’s stories.
Do you have advice for anyone just starting their journey?
Don’t take your weight loss journey too seriously. The more you restrict yourself from certain foods, the more you will end up craving them. You should think of this new journey as a sustainable lifestyle change that you can do for the rest of your life, if you choose. It should be easy to follow and even fun!
