World Health Day Featuring 310 Customers!

Every year for World Health Day, the World Health Organization (WHO), picks a theme of great importance to focus on and bring awareness to – with campaigns and activities that garner global attention. This year, the theme is “Building a Fairer and Healthier World.”

There are many ways in which many different groups of people band together towards this overarching initiative to build a better world. This year, similar to last year, the Covid-19 pandemic is still a major issue and concern, and nurses, EMTs, and others in the health field are still standing strong as heroes – helping to heal and provide care to the sick and those most vulnerable.

In the 310 Community, we are honoring those in the healthcare field, especially nurses and first responders today!

In this article, we’re featuring two healthcare professionals who have graciously shared their stories and the advice they have on how to be your best, healthiest self right now!

Featured Healthcare Hero: Maria Shelton

Tell us a little about yourself and how long you’ve been in healthcare!

I’m a 52-year-old mother of three and grandmother of six. I started my career in healthcare back in 2004 when I went back to school to become an EMT-Intermediate. In 2005, I got my first job working as a medic on an ambulance and continued doing that until late 2006.

I then transitioned over to the ER as a Medical Assistant, where I stayed until I moved from Georgia in 2013 to West Virginia. While there, I worked as a Plasma Care Tech drawing Plasma and then in a lab drawing blood at a hospital. I moved back to Georgia in 2018 and went back to my old position as a Medical Assistant in the ER, where I am to date.

How have you been staying healthy during the pandemic? Do you have any tips for others?

I like to follow and recommend what I call the “3 H’s of Surviving This Pandemic”… 

  • HAND HYGIENE 
  • HEALTHY DIET/LIFESTYLE
  • HYDRATION

These are all pivotal during these trying times and all play a part in your overall health!

What does your 310 routine look like when you’re on the job?

I have coffee first thing in the morning when I wake up. I then have my breakfast 310 Shake while I’m waiting to clock into work at 6:45am. I try to have a light, easy snack around 9:30am of cashews or nut butter with honey and a small apple. I eat a healthy lunch at 12:30pm, usually a lean protein with some veggies or a salad, and I always have my 310 Mega Bottle full of cold 310 Tea with stevia and lemon to enjoy with my lunch.

I bring a small cooler so I can bring my snack shake, which usually consists of the 310 Mocha blended with 1/2 small banana, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and some cold brew coffee which I try to have around 4:00-5pm. If time permits, I have another healthy snack before leaving work at 7:00pm.

Once home, I have a warm cup of 310 Tea with honey and lemon before bedtime around 9:00pm. Throughout the day I make sure to keep a bottle of water available to stay on top of my water intake for the day, which can be trying for people that work in healthcare.

What is your favorite 310 Shake recipe?

That’s a hard question to answer because I have so many favorites! But I think the Banana Walnut 310 Shake I make is probably my top choice! It’s so easy to make and so delicious…

Add to blender in this order…

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup ice
  • 8 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 scoop 310 Shake in Vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 
  • 2 tbsp. Oikos triple-zero Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground flaxseed

Blend for 2 minutes and enjoy!

Aside from the shakes, what 310 Product is your favorite for staying healthy?

The B12 Melts are a must for me and my second favorite are the 310 Teas. They’re a delicious change-up from water all day and they help me stay away from diet sodas which I was addicted to in the past. I haven’t had a diet soda since 2016!

Tell us something special about your 310 Journey!

Not only has 310 Nutrition greatly helped me on my personal path to health and wellness, it gave me the platform to help others on their journey’s as well! To be able to help someone turn their health around and not have to come to the ER because of bad health is GOLDEN TO ME! MY PASSION FOR 310 AND WHAT IT STANDS FOR HAS RUBBED OFF ON SO MANY LIVES DURING MY ALMOST 5-YEAR JOURNEY!

Tell us a little about yourself and how long you’ve been in healthcare!

I’ve been working in healthcare for over 20 years now. I’m doing much better now than I was when the pandemic started… Unfortunately, I suffered depression and anxiety like most of us at first. With all the uncertainty going on, I made it a point to personally get myself back on track with a healthy 310 lifestyle. I also aimed to get more involved in the 310 Community, where I could encourage others and let them know they weren’t alone.

How have you been staying healthy during the pandemic? Do you have any tips for others?

As a healthcare worker, I’m constantly focused on helping others, but I also realized that sometimes you need to focus on yourself – because if you don’t, who will? As I mentioned, I went back to a cleaner, healthier 310 lifestyle and drinking 310 Shakes so that I could be my best self; And then, I was able to encourage others to stay healthy and be their best!

What does your 310 routine look like when you’re on the job?

A normal day of healthy eating for me while at work is having a 310 Shake for breakfast, usually the Salted Caramel with almond milk, spinach, peanut butter, and banana, with one stalk of celery. Lunch is usually another shake with almond milk, apple, spinach, and peanut butter. I snack on cauliflower and almonds or cheese, and stay hydrated with the 310 Teas and 310 Lemonades as much as possible, then have a high protein dinner.

What is your favorite 310 Shake recipe?

My favorite shake recipe right now includes the 310 Chocolate Shake, and I add almond milk, one square of dark chocolate, peanut butter, and homemade whipped cream – blend all together and enjoy!

Aside from the shakes, what 310 Product is your favorite for staying healthy?

It truly is a lifestyle for me! I love all of the 310 products, and my favorites include the B12 melts, collagen, teas, and lemonades, (I miss the cucumber lemonade flavor, but I’m glad they have so many delicious options!) My favorite shake flavor of all time is the Mint Chocolate!

I also love the 310 Community! The best thing about this special group is the people – I have met some friends for life! I can’t wait until we can all meet again in Vegas! Thanks for the support! 💜🎁

Tell us something special about your 310 Journey!

I started 310 back in 2017 because I wanted to be my best self and live a healthier life. Since then, I have so much more energy to just live life, it’s amazing. Being disabled, I’m on the fast track to losing my mobility, and what I have found is that 310 makes an immense difference in my diet and my life!
