Tell us about your journey to better health…
I’ve struggled with body image issues and eating disorders for as long as I can remember. When I was in high school, I was very active with cheerleading but I never felt like I was skinny enough. I was in the “stunt groups”, and was one of the stronger girls versus the more petite girls we would throw in the air. But, I always compared myself to the other girls on my team.
In a personal effort to control my weight, I would count and track every single thing I put into my body, weigh myself daily, and exercise to my breaking point. Sometimes, I would punish myself if I didn’t meet a goal by starving myself. But I somehow always seemed to hate myself no matter how small I became, and I just created more health issues for myself like low blood pressure and sore muscles.
When I got to college, I suffered with the same problem, in a different way. I was overwhelmed with a new environment and new stressors, which changed my unhealthy coping mechanisms from food restricting to binging and purging. I commuted to campus and passed a fast food place on my drive, so I would typically stop for breakfast and then again on my way home.
My freshman year I gained 60 pounds in 6 months and hated everything about myself. I became depressed and anxious and started to experience panic and anxiety attacks for the first time in my life – which only led to me being more dependent on eating to feel better. I went through so many relationships with people that treated me poorly, abused and used me, that it ultimately led to me hating myself more.
I dropped out because I could no longer focus on my studies and felt like I wasn’t going anywhere. I realized that I couldn’t leave the house without being completely terrified of other people looking at me. I would tell myself how much I didn’t deserve love or good food or going out with friends. I hated having my picture taken, and I lost out on so many opportunities and chances to enjoy life.
I also tried so many crash diets… They never stuck for more than a month. I could never quite grasp that in order to lose weight, you MUST change your LIFESTYLE. You MUST change your MINDSET. By the time I met my now-husband in 2018, I was 260 lbs.
What motivated you to make a change?
I can clearly remember the memory that pushed me to finally take healthy action towards losing weight, for the first time. My now-husband and I had just started dating, and as a Christmas gift to my parents, we brought them tickets to a hockey game. It was a really fun day all together, but my parents ended up taking the WORST, most UNFLATTERING pictures of me. My mother asked to get a picture of us in front of some cars or something and the moment I saw myself, I cried. I sobbed. I hated it so much, and I hated myself so much. That was my moment.
I eventually learned about 310 Nutrition from a mutual Facebook friend who was using the products and posting about her weight loss journey. It inspired me enough to start using them myself – and I owe my success to her! Seeing someone else succeed in their goals by using 310 products definitely made me feel a lot more confident about trying them myself.
I started using 310 meal replacement shakes, and at first, they were hard for me to get used to because I just mixed them with water. Once I joined the 310 Community Facebook group and checked out other people’s recipes, I got more comfortable modifying them. Tell us about your success!
It’s now been just over a year that I’ve been using 310 Shakes along with a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise. As mentioned, when I started my journey I was 260 lbs. – and as of today I’ve lost 90 lbs. – bringing my weight down to 170 lbs.! I only have 10 lbs. more to go to reach my goal weight of 160 lbs. but I feel the best I’ve ever felt in my entire life, even without the last 10 lbs.
Putting the numbers aside, the personal victories I’ve experienced with my weight loss are amazing… My car seat belt fits comfortably. My husband can put his arms around me when we hug. I have a jawline! I fit into bar stools. I can run a mile in less than 10 minutes. I am no longer plus size, and I fit into medium shirts. I no longer need to shop at specialized stores for my bras. I no longer have back pain. I fit into airplane seats. I no longer sweat terribly in the summertime.
Even with all of that, I think the most important victory that I’ve had is that I loved every single picture of myself from my wedding day! Words cannot describe how amazing that felt! And, considering my past struggles with eating disorders, my relationship with food is now night and day from where it was two years ago. I’m a much healthier person, inside and out. What do you love BEST about 310 shakes?
One of the things I love best about 310 Shakes is how incredibly versatile they are, which makes them work perfectly with my lifestyle. I often get bored of things very quickly, and I’ve never felt that way about 310 Shakes! I’m able to mix them up in so many different ways.
Tell us about your healthy lifestyle routine…
When I was actively trying to lose a lot of weight, I would fast from 7pm at night to 12pm the next day, and then break my fast with a 310 meal replacement shake. I tried to eat a lower-carb diet, with most of my carbs coming from veggies or whole grains. I'd have small snacks throughout the day like almonds and yogurt, or broccoli and cucumbers with ranch dressing. Dinner was always a protein with some kind of veggie.
Now that I’m mostly in maintenance mode, with just a little more weight I’d like to lose, I eat more intuitively. I still drink the shakes – especially when I anticipate a long day ahead, I will make them and drink them as I feel hungry. My favorite shake flavor is Vanilla because it’s so easy to customize. I use the lemonade packs as well to help curve my sugary drink cravings.
As for physical fitness, in the beginning of my journey, I exercised four times a week. After Covid happened, I didn’t feel comfortable going to gyms anymore, so I set movement goals for myself. Typically, I take my dog for at least a 2 mile walk every day – and in the summer we usually do closer to 4 miles! If I can't walk, I do yoga, deep stretching or home fitness guides.

I would define it as an incredible group of people that push their peers to do well – and commend them when they achieve their goals. Do you have advice for anyone just starting their journey?
My advice to anyone just starting out on their journey is to ask yourself WHY you want to lose weight. Once you pinpoint the reason, remember that weight loss includes a long-term state of mind and a lifestyle revamp, not just a quick fix. It’s a long and hard road, but ANYTHING worth working for is never easy.
